Remembering Quilt

I started and finished a fun project yesterday! I cut up a bunch of Lil's old t-shirts and made a quilt with them. I have her first Christmas sleeper, her favorite Ariel shirt she wore forever, her Chapel hill soccer jersey, some of a swaddling blanket, and a few other shirts, plus some of my old fabric that I had leftover from other projects. I cut 'em up, put them all together and then bought a $4 sheet from Wal-Mart! So it was a $4 quilt and it actually looks really fun! Though I am no perfectionist, I just like to get my projects done and done well. The stretchy t-shirts plus the non-stretching fabric was an interesting combo and hard to sew together. I told Dave that his Mom would probably have a heart attack if she saw the back of the quilt! :) She is an amazing quilter. I took this picture with my phone.

Nice job! Looks good! There is some stuff you can put on the stretchy shirts to make them easier to sew. My mom or my sister made me one of those and I remember they put a special material behind some of the shirts.

Uh, can you teach me to quilt please? Or sew in general? I've been wanting to do this for Jared for some of his old high school band t shirts that he doesn't know what to do with...

Thanks for the instructions! I'll have to try it. I'm a little scared - my history with sewing has been disastrous at best. :)

And yep - married a band geek, a drummer to be exact. He's always behind me when I play the piano to make sure I keep the rhythms correct...nerd...
