If you were to ask me a year ago if I would ever run 13.1 miles, I would've laughed! No way! But after a year of running at the gym, weight training, and cardio... I've stayed in the same place. Sure, I feel healthier, I can do more, but I wasn't pushing myself. I would run 2 or 3 miles on the treadmill and then go on to weights. I was getting lazy! So I needed a new goal (besides the weight-loss one that I've been dealing with for the past 2 years). There are around 15 ladies from my ward running a half marathon in a month and they've inspired me! Four weeks ago I ran farther than I ever have in my life, 5 miles. Last weekend 7.3. It was so hard, but amazing to push myself like that... and actually do it! Now I finally get you running people! It feels good!
I am not writing about this to brag or anything.... :) I want some help with my playlist! What are your favorite pump-up, kick butt songs? I need fun, fast, appropriate :) running songs. I have been listening to the same All-American Rejects and Outkast, and need some new stuff! Help me out!

dude! I would totally put that up to brag! That is so awesome. I think you knew Emily my roommate. Well, she's a big runner now for the past couple of years---ran two marathons and has actually started a blog for running moms.

You should check it out sometime. she has lots of good running links and advice.
as far as songs, i love (don't judge me) britney spears greatest hits. i know i'm lame. but it gets me going. I love rihanna, especially disturbia and sos. beyonce will always get you going. you know i love kelly. maybe i'll make emily post about her playlist. yeah for running!
Yay! I am so glad you are doing it! I like to workout to most of the Black-Eyed Peas songs. You can get the "clean" versions through itunes. Also some old school Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are fun (don't judge!!) Lady Gaga has some great songs for running as well. Pink is also awesome!
I am so jealous! I can't wait to get back to running!
Black eyed peas is a great group and there's something about listening to 70s disco music that makes you just want to dance & run!
Some of My favorites:
Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
When you Were Young by The Killers
Better Life by Kieth Urban
Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
(don't judge me) Tik Tok by Ke$ha
I love you by Michael Franti
Have fun! I'm running another one in June- should be exciting!
Jay-Z is always awesome to run too, or Rihanna. And something a little off the beaten path of hip hop and rap for running is the Glee soundtrack! I love it, and the tempos in the songs are all the right timing for me running. It's more like happy go lucky running music :) A little weird, but I always sing along....
i created a 3 hour playlist for my ipod to run to when i ran my half. my 3 favorite songs are: Psyanotic by Thomas Dekker, Blood by Editors, and I'm so sick by flyleaf. Good luck!!
